The Saint: The World Beater (6.20, ITC, 1969)
"Are you alright?"
"Oh, sure I am. Happens to me every day on the freeway."
"For a moment, it certainly looked like curtains for the impetuous Simon Templar."
#the saint#the world beater#1969#itc#leslie charteris#leslie norman#donald james#roger moore#patricia haines#john ronane#james kerry#george a. cooper#eddie byrne#william wilde#rosemary donnelly#reg whitehead#anthony sheppard#clifford earl#bernard g. high#the grand finale! and it's a strangely lowkey ending. well‚ perhaps low stakes would be a better description#nobody gets murdered this week; nobody even gets their life threatened. instead we're back in the world of car racing‚ something Simon has#dabbled in before in 4.1 and 5.16 (incidentally‚ Eddie Byrne was also in 4.1 in p much an identical role; did something about him scream#car mechanic to the Saint team?). Simon's aware of what's going on almost from the outset so this becomes an exercise in him asserting a#kind of moral on the baddies (he hasn't done that in a while tbf). main baddie being the lovely Pat Haines‚ whose character has a history#with Simon that's vaguely alluded to have been romantic. she's great‚ a wicked rascal out for money‚ and almost uniquely for this series#the end of the episode catches up with her some time later to reveal that Simon has had zero impact and she's still conning people! it's#sort of lovely in a way. so yes we wrap up all nicely on a cozy feeling episode that lets pretty much everyone off the hook without#punishment. and so that was the Saint! 118 episodes later‚ done and dusted. it has its strengths and its weaknesses but there's nothing#quite exactly like it... farewell old friend. so that's that all finished i can move on to someth#but wait. what's that? Ian Ogilvy? what are you doing here? why are you beckoning towards me? no... no it can't be...

Exploring Common Skin Issues and Effective Solutions:
Acne and Acne Scars:
Acne is a widespread skin condition caused by the blockage of hair follicles with oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria, resulting in the formation of pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads. Even after acne has healed, it can leave behind scars that impact the skin's texture and appearance. Treating acne involves multiple approaches. Topical creams or gels containing ingredients like benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, or retinoids are commonly used to unclog pores, reduce inflammation, and prevent new breakouts. In more severe cases, oral medications such as antibiotics or isotretinoin may be prescribed to control acne. Dermatologists may also recommend procedures like chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or laser therapy to stimulate collagen production, reduce scar tissue, and enhance the overall appearance of acne scars.
Moles and Warts:
Moles are clusters of melanocytes, pigment-producing cells, that appear as dark spots or growths on the skin. While most moles are harmless, some may require monitoring or removal if they show changes in size, shape, color, or texture, or pose a risk of developing into skin cancer. Dermatologists perform thorough examinations and utilize treatments such as cryotherapy (freezing), laser therapy, or surgical excision to remove or diminish moles when necessary. Warts, caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), are small, rough growths that can occur on various body parts. Although warts are typically benign, they can be bothersome or aesthetically undesirable. Treatment options for warts include cryotherapy, laser therapy, surgical removal, or the application of topical medications that target the virus causing the warts, helping to eliminate or suppress their growth.
Hyperpigmentation:
Hyperpigmentation refers to the darkening of specific areas of the skin due to the excessive production of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin color. This condition can be triggered by factors such as sun exposure, hormonal changes, skin inflammation, or acne scars. Addressing hyperpigmentation requires a comprehensive approach. Topical creams or serums containing ingredients like hydroquinone, retinoids, kojic acid, or vitamin C are commonly used to inhibit melanin production, promote skin cell turnover, and fade existing dark spots. Dermatologists may also recommend procedures such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or laser therapy to exfoliate the skin, remove damaged skin cells, and encourage a more even skin tone.
Sun Tan:
A suntan occurs when the skin darkens as a natural response to protect itself from the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays. While a suntan is a defense mechanism, some individuals may prefer to lighten or remove their tan for aesthetic reasons. Prevention is crucial, and regular use of sunscreen with a high sun protection factor (SPF) helps prevent further tanning. Topical creams or serums containing ingredients like hydroquinone, kojic acid, or glycolic acid can assist in reducing pigmentation caused by tanning. Dermatologists may also recommend chemical peels or laser treatments to exfoliate the skin, promote skin cell turnover, and fade the tan by removing the outer layers of the skin.
Stretch Marks:
Stretch marks are thin streaks or lines that develop when the skin undergoes rapid stretching or changes in size, such as during pregnancy, weight gain, or growth spurts. They commonly appear on areas such as the abdomen, breasts, thighs, buttocks, and upper arms. While stretch marks are a natural occurrence, some individuals may seek treatments to improve their appearance. Topical creams or oils containing ingredients like retinoids, hyaluronic acid, or collagen-stimulating agents are often used to moisturize the skin, enhance elasticity, and reduce the visibility of stretch marks. Dermatological procedures such as laser therapy, microdermabrasion, or micro-needling can also stimulate collagen production, promote skin regeneration, and improve skin texture and tone, thereby reducing the appearance of stretch marks.
Anti-Pigmentation Treatment:
Anti-pigmentation treatment aims to address concerns related to uneven skin tone, dark spots, and hyperpigmentation. These treatments typically involve the use of topical products like creams, serums, or masks that contain ingredients known for their skin-lightening and melanin-inhibiting properties. Common ingredients include hydroquinone, vitamin C, arbutin, and licorice extract. These ingredients work together to suppress melanin production, fade existing dark spots, and promote a more balanced and uniform skin tone. Consistent and regular use of these anti-pigmentation treatments can help improve the overall appearance and radiance of the skin. It is essential to consult with a dermatologist to determine the most suitable treatment approach based on individual skin type and specific concerns.

The big question of regeneration: would they get away with it?
Picture: An interview with Anneke Wills and Reg Whitehead. WHITEHEAD: One really had to think the BBC had gone mad. Never did I dream that they’d be able to do it and get away with it. WILLS: Would the public accept that they would have an entirely different persona, you know? And that was, that was the dangerous moment. This was the moment when the whole thing hung in balance, actually.

Z-Cars: Not Good Enough (7.72/7.73, BBC, 1972)
"I can see I'm not gonna like you, Sergeant."
"I can see that that's going to be mutual."
#z cars#classic tv#BBC#1972#Geoffrey whitehead#ian cullen#John swindells#anthony valentine#Jessie Evans#Reg lye#Petronella barker#Herbert ramskill#ronald wilson#Bill barron#The relatively large cast of regular characters that z cars had allows for different police officers to be the focus in different eps as#Well as presumably freeing actors up for holidays. So this ep we get an old fave of mine Geoffrey Whitehead who I hadn't even realised was#In the show (and was not present in the last two) whilst James Ellis is nowhere to be seen. Whitehead is a different type of copper to the#Ones we've met so far: young but ranking and clearly educated (there is the smallest frisson of class conflict between him and Cullen#Something no doubt explored further in earlier potentially missing eps). All this is well and good and enjoyable TV but the fact is simply#Everything and everyone is overshadowed here by the mvp that is Tony Valentine. Callan had just finished and presumably Tony was relishing#The opportunity to throw himself into guest parts: he's fantastically larger than life here as a sneering scouse villain who the police#Just can't seem to be able to prove anything against. Where other guests have do far shared their screentime evenly with the regulars#Valentine absolutely dominates these episodes. It's a wonderfully horribly charming but crawling performance as he drawls his lines and#Cocks his head dripping pure arrogance. It also feels like it could be the beginning of a recurring character: I have no idea tho and with#The survival rate of the show being so spotty even if he did come back there's a fair chance the eps are lost
